Nevertheless, her twist on the story allowed for a captivating novel. McNeil’s story by no means surpasses Christie. She uses the plot and the character development to write a novel that appeals to contemporary teenagers. Gretchen McNeil’s Ten is an example of such a novel. Given this praise, many others have taken on the task of emulating Christie’s work with similar mystery novels.
